ST. NICHOLAS OF TOLENTINE ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY
Since 1905, St Nicholas has withstood the effects of the salty environment in Atlantic City one block away from the ocean. Exterior restoration of the church sought not only to preserve the historic materials but to respond the challenges of this environment to provide a long service life after the work was completed. In preparation for the restoration, all areas were carefully surveyed from lifts to record the existing conditions. As-built laser documentation was utilized to assure the accuracy of the base drawings. Materials testing and cleaning mock-ups were conducted to prior to removal of salt deposits from soft marble column capitals.
