SEMINARY HALL PORTICO
DREW UNIVERSITY/MADISON, NEW JERSEY

Restoration of the Seminary Hall Portico at Drew University was warranted by the presence of a fairly ominous-looking cross-patterned crack in the Guastavino tile ceiling of the Portico. Structurally, the Guastavino tile itself is unusual enough to require specialized attention. In this case, an obvious crack, along with related roofing issues, identified the need for a more careful study of existing conditions and their causes. HMR Architects maintained the portico in its existing configuration and the significant and original Guastavino tile ceiling was preserved in its place.
