HIGH POINT MONUMENT
HIGH POINT STATE PARK
SUSSEX COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

HMR undertook a comprehensive program of investigation to learn as much as possible about the existing structure prior to the development of the restoration approach for the stone masonry, stairs and interior finishes of this 1928 granite obelisk. Severe punishment inflicted by the location has allowed moisture to penetrate the interior of the monument. Environmental data was collected from the interior and exterior of the monument prior to design of the new ventilation system. Interior instrumentation included sensors to record relative humidity and ambient air temperatures; exterior air temperature and relative humidity were also monitored for comparison to the interior conditions
